What if we celebrated the Source rather than the PVC pipe he delivered it through? If I ever got nominated for a Dove or Grammy (fat chance), I would pull a Woody Allen and decline. I know some writers in Asia writing some burning praise and they'll never even make the awards radar screen but they will get a huge crown in heaven for enduring persecution..

jordan fowlers last blog post..In a Conversation with Emergents, Consider This

Re: Worship Leader Praise Awards

The problem is that it doesn't just stop at honouring and recognizing; it also elevates people. To me, this is dangerous. To me, this is why scandals like the Healer hoax have such a far-reaching effect - the person gets elevated and praised instead of God being magnified and praised.

Jamess last blog post..There’ll Be Some Changes Made

Re: Worship Leader Praise Awards

James,
Ha ... I almost put "how do you feel about worship leader awards" in the blog, but figured I better not ...!

I agree, it can give a weird taste, but then again, I'm also open to the idea that we are just acknowledging and honoring those who have blessed us with their gifts, and recognizing that ... I'm not sure anything is really wrong with that - it's all in how it's presented (and more importantly, received)

Re: Worship Leader Praise Awards

...and this is why I just can't stand the "worship" industry; giving awards out to some people for magnifying God better than others.

Jamess last blog post..There’ll Be Some Changes Made
